A Healthy baby-represents a Super Healthy Family!!

A child is considered GOD’s own incarnation and so when a baby enters a home, the entire house is on toes to greet the baby!! So imagine what happens if this most important member of the house falls sick and is in no mood to be happy!!

A few glimpses:

“Arre shantabai, what are you doing? That corner in left is yet to be cleaned….do it properly or give me the broom, I will do it!! You start climbing the ladder and there comes the scream of your little one demanding you to carry her and be with her leaving all your work.

My nose is running and dropping and I am sneezing

Come to me momma, I am sick :(

And you are left with no choice but just to think – “Phew!! Diwali is just around, when I will clean the house, all is in mess”

**********************************************************************************

“Hey how about taking the kiddos to garden today and then end it up with a yummy dinner” A message pops in your Whatsapp group-“Marvelous Moms”. You are super excited for a play date and start getting ready...and your baby clings to you, you caress and hug her just to find her body warmer than usual!!

The mercury in the thermometer shoots up and so does your brains!!

Kiddos are so cranky while fever, you don’t even get time to reply back to your friends. The moment you take your cell phone to send a “can’t make it today” message, you baby is crying-

The heat is burning my body and I feel so low

Come to me momma, I am sick :(

*********************************************************************************

Lot of guests, sweets, flowers, decorations and family giggles!! Marks the presence of an event which is close to all- Engagement ceremony of my brother. I am super excited, enjoying, welcoming guests, all decked up in saree and jewellery. And suddenly find my little daughter crying and coming to me. She takes me to a room to show where unfortunately she vomited. Making her drink water prompted more of it and she went all hanky panky.

My stomach aches and throat burns,

Come to me momma, I am sick :(

Everyone in the house worried. A clear indication of food poisoning :(

The entire mood for ceremony had fallen apart and everyone was concerned for the poor kid.

Imagine what a stat the entire house would be!!

**********************************************************************************

A healthy child definitely makes the home feel healthy. With their tender age and not much of immunity they are more quickly prone to get attacked by virus and unhealthy environment.

As parents I guess we should try and build up their immune system and make it strong to fight against such odds.

The story so far:

Shekhar decides to continue “Listen Jen, I need the password to that memory card… that alone can save my daughter and restore my family happiness, if that means anything to you and if you really love me as much as you claim.
Jennifer laughs “Family… haha you made your life, got a family, what about me Shekhar… What about me ?… you shattered my dreams… broke your promises…didn’t even bother to help me when I was in need of you… you are a bloody traitor Shekhar… a bloody hypocrite!  And now you have the gall to request me to help you?  Who do you think you are?”
With tears running down her cheeks, Jennifer storms out of Shekhar’s flat… she doesn’t leave quietly… She looks back at Shekhar and continues shouting “You are a traitor Shekhar… you are a bloody traitor”…….
_____________________________________________________________

It is now almost 2 pm.  Jennifer opens the taxi door and gets in, tears streaming down her face.  She instructs the driver to move.

“Kidhar jaane ka Madam?” (Where do you want to go, Madam?)
Pata nahin, kahin bhi chalo.”  (I don’t know, go anywhere).
The driver looks at her strangely.
Dekh kya rahe ho?  Chalo bola na?”  (What are you staring at?  I told you to move on, didn’t I?)

Jennifer is totally distraught.  The taxi driver starts moving, all the while giving the lady in the back seat worried looks.  He is scared to make conversation with her.  She seems so upset, she might snap at him if he so much as even tries.

I was such a fool!  I have spent 10 good years of my life in the hope I might be able to get Shekhar back!  How could he do this to me?  What a stupid excuse to dump me!  ‘His parents would not accept our marriage!’  Didn’t he know this when he started going out with me?  How could he use me like this and then dump me so heartlessly?  I was such a fool to have trusted him.  Such a spineless creep!  And then when I told him I wanted to break off completely, how much he begged and pleaded that we should keep in touch?  What was it he said?  Oh yes!  ‘Let us be good friends’.  How convenient!  It was always only about him and what he wanted.  The rest of the world could go to hell.

What an ace idiot I was!  I had pinned my hopes on the event that this ‘good friendship’ would some day bring him back to me!  Now he has moved on and is happy living with his family and I am left all alone.  Oh, men!  Just you wait, Mr. Dutta, just you wait!  This is just the beginning of the game.”

That brings her back to thoughts about Ahuja.  “Where on earth has this Ahuja disappeared?  Just when I was gloating over the fact that everything was falling in place!  Fat Ahuja!  Don’t I know a thing or two about you!  Look at you!  Fat, podgy fellow that you are!  What do women see in you to fall for you?  Seriously, are women blind or are their tastes so bad?  Or are they just so plain desperate that even you are able to charm them off their feet?  What a rogue you are!  Haven’t I seen those pictures of you with all those fat, middle aged, rich ‘sisoti’ (sic: society) women’ as the Punjus put it?  How much money you must have made blackmailing them with those photographs you used to take surreptitiously, God alone knows!  Oh, I know too, though I might not know the exact figure!  I thought you could help me by seducing Tara and then blackmailing her for money too.  And I could have brought some pictures to Shekhar’s notice?  Too late now!  You are no use to me anymore.  But hold on!  Where are you?  You are missing.  Roohi is missing too!  2+2=4.  Well, at least you could of some use to me.  I am sure Roohi is with you.”

Jennifer's thoughts are running faster than the taxi in which she is travelling.  They are driving along Marine drive.  Somewhere through the haze of her thoughts, she registers the sea on one side and the heavy traffic moving in the opposite direction on the other.  The cool breeze touches her face.  Her eyes are feeling heavy and tired with all the crying.

How and where can she find Ahuja?  Suddenly she thinks of a college mate who now runs a successful detective agency in Mumbai.  It is a matter of a few seconds before she is on line with him:

Hi Shibu, Jennifer Joseph here.  Do you remember me?

“How can I ever forget Jennifer Joseph?  The girl with attitude who kept all the guys in college at a distance.  All those poor guys who were willing to wipe the ground you trod on with their kurtas!  Tell me now, what are you doing?  Where are you calling from?  What do I owe the honour of this call to?”

Stop bull-shitting me Shibu Cherian!  Look, I am in Bombay for some urgent matter.  I need your help.  Are you willing to help me?

“Anything for you Madam!  ‘Jaan haazir hai’ (I’ll give up my life for you), as they say in these parts of the world.”

Jennifer smiles through her tears at the drama Shibu is putting on for her benefit.  He was always such a flirt!  She gives Shibu all the details about Ahuja and asks him to find him at any cost.

I need to find him very urgently.  It is a matter of life and death.

“Consider it done.  Give me just 2 days.  I cannot allow Jennifer Joseph to die so easily!”

Jennifer sighs.  Every minute weighs heavily on her.  “If only I can find that Ahuja soon enough, I am sure I will find Roohi too.  What condition would Roohi be in?  I am sure she will be frightened and missing her parents. She looks so much like Tara!  How nice it will be to see her miserable, whining and crying for her parents!  It was good to see Shekhar and Tara despairing over her and this will just complete the picture!  If nothing else, I will at least feel some sense of peace.”

Jennifer has been driving around now for almost 2 hours.  They are driving along Linking Road, Bandra.  She suddenly realizes how hungry she is and decides to stop at a restaurant for a cup of coffee.  She sits down and orders a cappuccino and a club sandwich.  Just then her mobile rings.  It is from Shibu.  She picks up the phone and notes down the information that Shibu gives her.

Thanks Shibu.  That was really quick.  You are a real life saver.  I owe you one!”

She quickly gulps down her coffee, pays the bill and leaves immediately.  She needs to move quickly.

The story so far:

“And guess what, Aryan Ahuja is Shekhar’s neighbour!” she squeals excitedly.  “Yes-Yes, I know him, photographed the loser when he was a stand-up comedian in Delhi and I small fish!”
"The ball is in your court young lady.  Their days are numbered.  I can feel it in my bones"
“Cyrus Daruwala is our man of the hour! Mr. Editor, here is the plan...” the scheming minds and whispering voices travel across the cables through the rainy night and chalk out a plan for the Dutta family, sadly endangering someone’s life.
_________________________________________________________________

Shekhar is still totally baffled and angry.  He is not able to concentrate on any of his work either.  Picks his cell phone to call Tara but decides to speak with her once she is back.  The phone doesn’t seem to be quite the right medium for a fight.

Not a very pleasant evening at the Dutta residence.  Roohi is pretending to watch cartoons on TV fully aware of the fact that once her mom steps in things will be different.

Shekhar looks angrily at the clock and stares outside the window.  Come what may, he isn’t able to shake off his worries about Jen.

“Where could she be?  What state is she in?  It’s such a cruel world out there; she asked for my help but …”

Wish I could help her in her tough times, be with her, comfort her, console her……
Life is never easy for any media worker especially when politics is involved and some minister’s reputation is at stake.
Anything can happen anytime”.

I am back home” Tara enters, interrupting his train of thoughts.

Shekhar gives her a withering glare.  Tara senses that something is wrong.

Is everything alright Shekhar?  What’s wrong with you?

There is no response from Shekhar.  Ignoring him Tara starts walking towards her room.

“Hold on Tara” Shekhar shouts.  “How did your channel get the news about the memory card”

“What memory card are you talking about Shekhar? Why are you asking me”?

“Don’t pretend Tara, who other than you knew about it?  I am not going to tell your editor, so who else could have done it?”

“Are you accusing me of leaking it out?” hisses Tara. How am I supposed to know it?  What memory card?  I have never heard anything about any memory card.  Have you even told me about it?”

Roohi switches off the TV and slowly slinks away to her room.  She knows she is not required there.

“I don’t know how you came to know, but I am absolutely sure, beyond any doubt, that you know about it.  May be you heard me talking about it last night’?

“Oh please Shekhar! Why on the earth would I do that?”Tara raises her voice, worried at the turn of events.

“You know Jennifer is my friend and she is already in deep trouble!  Now you have gone and done something so stupid!  Do you even know how much trouble you are getting her into?  Or are you doing it purposely?  If we cannot help her, let’s at least not go out of the way to drag her into more threatening situations.”

“C’mon Shekhar think rationally.  What will I get by doing all this?  When will you learn to trust me” Tara snaps back.

“Tara please tell me the truth, don’t lie”

“Shekhar, now this is too much!!  You are accusing me of telling lies for that girl, Jennifer’s sake?  You seem to be intent on starting off a quarrel for the heck of it.  For God’s sake, spare me.  I have a lot of other things to do in life.”

She picks up her purse and heads to her room.

Tara is unusually worried this morning.  She knows very well that Shekhar will not spare her and in order to avoid him she gets ready fast.  As she enters the room, she sees Shekhar sipping his tea and going through the newspaper.  Roohi is having her breakfast silently, keeping her eyes fixed on her plate.  Tara quickly kisses Roohi good bye, grabs a toast and rushes out, leaving a furious Shekhar behind.  Soon Roohi also leaves for school with a friend and her mother, who luckily enough for Roohi has offered to drop her to school.  The school bus is not coming today. Tara enters her office in a foul mood, but wants to leave her fight behind and concentrate on her work.  It’s a new place, new boss and she wants to prove herself.  She starts off her day by checking her mail.

Back home, Shekhar rests on his chair with hands covering his face and feeling helpless.  The clock strikes 12 pm.  Shekhar recollects – no school bus today; Roohi has to be picked from school.  But he is in no state to go out.  His mind is a mad jumble of thoughts and confusion, not to mention his anger which has not yet cooled down.  He picks up his cell to call Tara and ask her to pick Roohi up from school.  He tries calling about 5 times, but all in vain. She doesn’t pick them up.

The intercom beeps in Tara’s cabin.

“Tara, could you please drop by my cabin if you have some time”?   It is Mr Murthy.
Tara collects some documents and notepad but leaves her mobile behind and makes her way towards Mr Murthy’s cabin.

“Is this paragraph quite in line with the article?  Hmmm.. Not so sure.  Well can we make the text more exciting?”  Cyrus thinks, tapping his finger on his desk. ”Let me clarify with Tara ma’am”
He enters her room searching for his mentor.  Not finding Tara around, he decides to wait for her.
“Triinng” rings Tara’s phone. Cyrus hears it but just keeps wondering where Tara is!

The phone rings a couple of times more.  This time Cyrus decides to pick it up, assuming it could be some urgent call.  He hits the accept button but before he could even say “Hello”:

“Why are you not picking my call??  It’s you who has done a mistake.  It’s you who has leaked the news about Jen and the memory card and now you show me attitude and refuse to pick up my calls!  Tara. you are just impossible!!”

Beep..beep..beep… the call gets cut. Cyrus stands there cogitating about what he has just heard.

Agitated, Shekhar decides to pick Roohi up from school.

Chapter - 7

“Good evening ladies and gentlemen and welcome to the most awaited show of its times.... today we are going to talk with India’s top most celebrity.....

Please welcome.......”

“Cock-a-doodle-doo” goes the alarm. Tara shuts it off and wakes up with a thud.

“What a dream!” she says to herself, stretching her arms out and a wearing a smile forces herself off the bed.

Tara walks towards Roohi’s room and finds her fast asleep, hugging her favourite teddy tightly.

Tara shakes Roohi. “Come on Roohi dear ,it’s a beautiful morning! Time to go to school”. Roohi gets up most unwillingly. She is herded into the bathroom by Tara.

In the next thirty minutes Tara gets Roohi dressed up for school. ”Beep beep” the school van honks outside the gate and Roohi rushes out with the packed lunch in her hand.

Roohi has couple of cool friends in the van who are waiting for her. Once she is in, they start playing clap games

Aao mina (clap, clap, clap)

Super sina... (clap, clap, clap)

Big boy (clap, clap, clap)

Lazy girl (clap, clap clap)

Aao Mina, Super sina, Big boy, Lazy girl (without the claps - in continuum)

STATUE! (wait for a few seconds)

O - V - E - R

Over, Over, Over!

Its Maths period and the blackboard is covered with combinations of all possible numbers and signs.

Roohi sits on one of the last benches - not because she is any taller than the rest of the crowd but studies just don’t interest her. She is in her own world doodling in her workbook. Well doodles are always simpler than numbers!

The teacher asks a question and some smart heads have their hands high up, waiting to answer. Roohi on the contrary is lowering her head further to avoid being spotted by her teacher, but Murphy’s Law dictates that you are most visible only when you don’t want to be seen. A small piece of chalk hits her head and rolls onto her desk.

She is forced to get up. Completely unaware of what has been asked she just is unable to answer.

She is deeply embarrassed and hangs her head down in despair. She is at the receiving end of unsavoury remarks from the Maths teacher as she sits down, wishing she could vanish into thin air and not have to face anyone around.

The school bell rings, indicating the time for the teachers to change their classrooms. Before the English teacher arrives, Roohi has already filled her page with more of her doodles and is hardly bothered about any other subject.

It’s not going to be a great period either. The teacher starts distributing the previous week test papers.

“Roohi Dutta come here”. It’s her turn to face the consequences of her performance in the Grammar test.

“I must say, you need a lot of improvement. I have never seen such bad handwriting and poor performance in my Grammar tests. Kindly study hard or else I shall need to speak with your parents”

Roohi takes her paper quietly and without bothering to look at it goes back to her seat depressed and troubled.

Tara enters her office in a euphoric mood induced by her dream. It’s as though she has not yet woken up quite fully. Visualizing herself on the hot seat with top stars, she places her purse on her desk and rushes to the cafeteria to grab a cup of coffee.

“Have you guys heard about it already?” she over hears a bunch of her colleagues chatting amongst themselves.

She grabs her cup and joins them in the hot conversation.

“What’s the whole excitement about?”

“We just got some inside news. Our company is hiring a woman journalist from “News-Abhi Tak” to host this new show.

She might be called here for an interview in a couple of days. We are sure she will be offered a lucrative package which she will find hard to reject.”

This lady is a favorite public figure and our boss thinks she can run the show ensuring high TRPs.

Tara feels as if the coffee has turned to stone in her throat. She sees all her dreams shattered in a split second.

She gets up and starts walks towards her desk.

Just...Add to CART :)

A Hindi excerpt from busiest shopping streets of Mumbai: “ Arre bhaiya,400 rupaiya…yeh toh bahut zaada hai,150 main milta hai..dena hai toh do”(I ll take it for 150, everywhere we get it for same price, I ll take it only for 150;Give if you want to give). Buyers quote some of these lines and start walking away from the shop not leaving the shopkeeper perplexed, but making him run behind you to crack the best deal!!
It happens at most of the places J

People just bargain and bargain. It’s because the sellers always quote a price which is higher than the usual.
Or rather much higher at times.
But with this busy life and tight schedules and certain deadline to match up; people are less interested spending time doing bargains and run from shop to shop.
And then enters something into our lives which act as a savior from street shopping, crowded malls, parking issues while shopping, etc etc.

E-commerce ---The Online world!!

Yes online shopping. Who had imagined we would start buying sitting in front of a our lappies or comps and order stuff without even inspecting it by holding in our hands J
But yes it’s very convenient and the chances of the website cheating on you is very minimal, as reputation is at stake and with more and more youth being attracted to online shopping they cannot afford to degrade themselves. Also what’s more interesting is that they have lucrative offers and combos that just keep flashing on their homepage. You are bound to click on at least one such pop up.

Addition to offers and discounts a new scheme- cash back. Get money back for things you buy.WOW!! Sounds a steal .isn’t it? Who would give you few bucks back? But yes these online shopping sites do it. But many a times the prices have been raised and then you get something back. Sounds deal? J Yes for the sellers...Not for the buyers

Add a product to you shopping cart and proceed for payment. Enter shipping details and what do you find on next page. A small textbox asking you to enter coupon or coupon code. What’s this? A code usually aired by them which helps you to get certain discount on your total purchase. And it works!! Yep it certainly does giving minimum of 20-30% flat discount. And these coupons are so widely published these days..Its quite easy to grab one.

Online shopping: A very convenient and easy way to shop. And with so many websites you have multiple options and comparisons. Find the same product everywhere and the site that quotes the least price gets maximum additions to its shopping cartJ

So just login and keep shopping!!! :):)
