Painting my Home Canvas with Godrej Interio

Sipping coffee and gazing out of the window on a lovely rainy day! Wow nature is so beautiful. Currently placed on the ground floor, just thinking what would the scenery be from some 27^th floor? Beautiful wouldn’t it be? I wish I can have my dream home some day!!!

A sudden tap on my shoulder, Turning back I just gasped………….

“Hi” a tiny some un- known creature waving at me!

“Hey Hi! But you scared me!! What on earth are you and what are you doing here?” I freaked out!

“I am the expert from the house of ‘Godrej Interio’ and I am here to help you and transform your house into your DREAM HOME” he answered with the cutest of smile. “Well you can call me GIE J (Godrej Interio Expert)” he added.

Of course I did not believe what was happening. It was some kind of magic like A Jeanie coming out of an old Aladdin lamp J

GIE took hold of my hand and started walking saying “Let’s start with your living room, how you want it to be?”

Hmmm.. So you are not going to leave me.. Huh! Anyways what was the harm in exposing my dream ideas! I just thought.

So I started with the Living Room:

“The first abode where we land as soon as we enter our house. A living room is basically a sitting area with family and friends. Where we sit , relax, talk and just chill. It’s basically a non-private space of the house.

A guest as well as a new comer to my home is always welcome in the living room.

Would love to have brown sofas with turquoise combination of pillows. A corner table between 2 sofas to hold a land line phone, a vase and a small paper stand.

 A LCD on the opposite wall along with few glass shelves to hold the cable set up box and DVD player and few show items.

I don’t like much of show pieces as it kills the simplicity of the place. A few are fine which can really stand out and enhance the beauty of the place.

A low sitting area would just add to the perfect look. And a big carpet rug in the center where rests the coffee table which is of thick glass.

And last but not the least a beautiful painting painted by me on one of the walls (I love painting and have made couple of canvas stuff.)”

I also showed him some pics like below to have an idea.

“Perfect” GIE murmured to him and was happy that I narrated my dream drawing

“Alright now let’s turn to your kitchen”

I started for my Kitchen:

“The only word that comes to my mind is “ORGANISED”. As you can see currently I have many open shelves where in I have rested all the steel bowls but they get dusty and spoil the look of the kitchen.

Also I would love to have trolleys in the drawers as currently we do not have kitchen trolley drawer. They are regular drawers where it’s not very easy to take out stuff which has been stored behind.

  

Also the kitchen has to be painted with bright colors as it sets the perfect mood for cooking. The cabinets can be some bright pastel shade but the walls to be painted white or light shades.

I want to keep some kitchen decorative stuff in the kitchen to enhance its look

 “There are times when we just wash couple of vessels and keep it next to the sink, but the sink looks quite messy at times with the washed vessels kept there. I feel there should be some provision on the top of sink where in the water gets drained and the vessels are also hidden behind the cabinet doors.”

“Wow, that sounds cool” exclaimed GIE. He seemed to be quite impressed with my ideas J

“And I know you must be having special plans for your bedroom J so go on... Please share them “

Yes… Finally comes the bedroom décor. It’s my private space where I love to relax alone, share some private moments with my husband and 2 year old daughter. We all want our bedroom to be just like what we dream it to be. Cause this is the only space in the house which we call it our own J

We never say my living room or my kitchen or my balcony but we always say its “MY BEDROOM” J

“Let me tell you something GIE, since we stay at ground floor, we cannot have the sliding windows wide open so the light intensity is not that great. So would love to have light shades in the room which can illuminate it and make it look bright.

I guess shaded Windows would be the best option. Elegant and classy!! Some inspiration pic below:

I love beautiful curtains matching with the door mat, bed sheets and pillows. I love the CORAL shade. I have some idea in mind something like below:

Also one corner I want to dedicate to my daughter. A small bed for her and a shelf to keep her books and toys.

And now comes most important part. The WARDROBE!! A well organized and clean wardrobe is what we all desire. But it’s not always possible due to space crunch or wrong ideas. 

I feel if we divide the wardrobe perfectly than we can place all our stuff - well mannered

There should be place for everything- clothes, accessories, scarves, shoes, purses etc.

If there are sliding drawers than everything is in place and can be kept intact!

  

“Oh, you real have a nice taste” GIE winked at me. I smiled J

 “Alrite I have taken done my notes. Do you have anything else to add?” he was saying while typing things down a on a cute thin pad that he carried all the while.

Just make sure my balcony has a swing and my temple is bigger than the present one and marble made; which would carry all the deities.

"So now?? What??" I wondered.

He said just close your eyes and "Shaka laka boom boom" 

When I opened , my house was just the way i had dreamt of. GIE had transformed my home!!!Exactly the way I wanted!!! Was just gazing at the colorful walls and....

"Ting-Tong" rang the door bell, and it just pulled me out from one of my best day dreams ever!!!!

WOW.. What a dream. I really wish I can get some GIE some day to transform my house!!

The much known saying –“Home is where the heart is!”

And it’s as absolutely true as we all agree to it. We spend most of the years of our life at our home. So we all have dreams to have the best ideal house which welcomes us and makes us stress free!

My aspirations are not always big and lavish bungalows but a home where I can just connect and feel safe and closer to myself.

Rosa Penne Basilico

Undoubtedly PASTA is the most favorite Italian dish. No Italian cuisine is complete without a pasta dish...be it in a form of a salad or a main course.

What I am presenting here is Penne Pasta with a little twist. It’s Pink Sauce basil Pasta with NO ONIONS and NO GARLIC (NO CIPOLLE, NO AGLIO)! Yes you read it right, an Italian dish without garlic and onions.

I am married to a Jain family hence my husband does not have potatoes, onions and garlic! (Although I eat everything:)) But he is a total foodie!!! Hence I was left with no choice but try out dishes without these ingredients.
I was always passionate about cooking and working with limited ingredients was not only experimenting but equally challenging. Because what ultimately matter is the TASTE :)

Red Sauce + White Sauce == Pink Sauce

So I would be preparing both these sauces separately and mix them. In Italy it’s famous as Rosa salsa and it’s usually not too spicy.

The Red Sauce is a very easy and simple method. It’s my own innovative method to make the sauce in a pressure cooker.

I am adding BASIL to the Red sauce to give it the perfect flavor and aroma. (Chef’s tip: This Red Sauce can be used for Red pasta and also as Pizza Sauce)

Rosa Penne Basilico

Combination of RED SAUCE, WHITE SAUCE, PASTA AND VEGETABLES

Serves: 4                                                                         Time taken: 30-40 mins


FOR THE RED SAUCE

Ingredients:
4 medium sized Tomatoes
2 Carrots
Small piece of gourd (dudhi)
Few Basil leaves
2 tbsp Tomato Ketchup
1 tbsp Oregano
1 tbsp Chilli flakes
Salt to taste

METHOD:
Step 1:  Chop medium size chunks of tomatoes, carrots and gourd and mix it with other ingredients in a pressure cooker.

Step 2:  Add little water and pressure cooker for 3 whistles.

Step 3:  Once cooled keep it aside. Shall grind it together with white sauce

FOR THE WHITE SAUCE:

Ingredients:
1 tbsp Butter
1 tbsp Plain flour (Maida)
1 tbsp cheese spread
1 tbsp grated cheese
1 cup milk
Pinch pepper
Salt to taste


METHOD:

Step 1: In a pan add butter and plain flour and sauté for about 2-3 mins or till you get aroma from the flour and the color starts changing.
(Chef’s tip: Use a non-stick pan as this sauce tends to get sticky with the vessel)

 Step 2: Add milk and stir continuously to avoid lumps. Ass both the cheese and sit again for 3-4 minutes till its thick and sauce like consistency.

Step 3: Add salt and pepper and let it cool.

PINK SAUCE:

Step 1: Combine the above Red and White sauce in a mixer grinder and you are ready with your pink(Light red) sauce!!!

Step 2:  Transfer in a pan and taste it for salt and spicy consistency.

PASTA:

Key Ingredient:

 Half pack of Del Monte Penne Pasta(250 gms)

METHOD:

Step 1: Boil the pasta with enough water and 1 tsp olive oil and salt.(Chef's tip: Add salt after the water starts boiling)

Step 2: Once boil Drain the excess water. (Chef’s Tip: Coat the pasta with olive oil to avoid sticking with each other)

VEGETABLES:

Ingredients:

1/2 Red Capsicum
1/2 Green Capsicum
1/2 Yellow Capsicum
4 pieces of baby corn

1 cup boiled American corn

Step 1:  Chop the vegetables and boil the corn.

Step 2: Heat Olive oil in a pan

Step 2: Sauté the vegetables with olive oil, oregano and chilli flakes. Add salt to taste.

The Final Step:

Add the Pink sauce, Sauteed Vegetables and Boiled pasta in a pan and heat it for 3-4 minutes.

Some Get along:

It’s always interesting to have a side dish along with your main course. What better than Garlic breads! Oops.. I just mentioned NO GARLIC.
No problem………..I have don’t have Garlic Breads but I have my own version-"Cheesy Bread"

What you need:
2 Square Breads(Ladi pav)
1 tbsp cheese spread
1 tbsp butter
1 tbsp chilli flakes and oregano each

METHOD:

Step 1: Cut the bread in thin strips. (One bread can give 4-5 strips)

Step 2: Apply cheese and butter mixture, sprinkle the spices and grill on a flat pan.

Step 3: Cover for 2 minutes and it’s done :)

PLATING:

Garnish your pasta with Basil and black olives and enjoy it with Cheesy breads.

Take a bite and........Delizioso!!!

Music and Dance with MaxFresh

Present Day, Morning:

It’s going to be an energy pack day. Not because I have to exercise and hit the gym but it’s the first event that I am planning to witness where I had been a part of it from the beginning .It’s a super Dance & Music Show which will leave the audience spell bound.....

Some months back….

“Dad till My engineering results is out can I please work with some event company. I just love being into an energetic profile. Running here and there..Setting up stages.. co-coordinating and managing stuff!”

Dedda looks at me making a cunning frown, as his eyebrows joined his smile increased. He knew I wouldn’t settle for a NO and so there it was I joined a big event organization.

And so here I was… into this company’s office looking at the email from the Director, the email was marked to many of us- Get going guys… we ought to arrange for the best SHOW in the town..“The utmost favorite of the youth- A music concert”

I thought lest make the show peppier. Why not add dance to the Music concert.

Dance and music always go hand in hand.Agreed. but the challenge was- where to get the best of these combinations?

Need someone who is not only super talented in his respective field but also popular. Cause that is what is going to attract the crowd to the show. My mind started working …..Think, Think…..Think!!

Many names were suggested but the one that struck me was –“ Allu Arjun”. Who doesn’t know him. The stylist Allu Arjun. He is an Indian film actor known for his work in Telugu cinema.After playing as a kid artist in Vijetha and as a dancer in Daddy, His movie-ARYA made him a star. He became an icon amongst the youth.He is also a brand ambassador for many popular products including Colgate.

So here we have the super dancer but what about the vocalist. It’s a music and Dance show. So again we need someone with an electrifying energy to sizzle the crowd and who other than –“ Anushka Manchanda”

Not many would be knowing -Anushka Manchanda is not only a Playback singer but also songwriter, model, an ex--VJ (for Channel [V]) and was a member of the Indian pop girl group Viva!

If you haven’t heard yet... do try to get a ear of her powerful -"Bezubaan Phir Se"(from ABCD-2). She is just fantastic!

And so we were set. A concert where dance meets music and they together create history!!

The passes were out. We had tremendous feedback and response. Everything was sold out way before the concert day. 

Present Day, Evening

The show was incredible. Allu struck people’s heart with his moves while Anushka stole their hearts with her voice.

The entire stadium was full with people dancing. I am sure no one was sitting. Everyone was up to shake a leg and dance to the tunes.The entire aura was electrifying and super!

Just loved their performances which no one wanted to leave. Once more.. Once more.. was the only thing we could here :)

So all you guys.....Are you ready to ROCK!!!

The Far East Food Hub!!!

Had a super experience while I was in Singapore last year. Had visited my friends.

Had been to Clarke Quay  where there was a food fair.

It is considered one of the happening places in Singapore and specially during weekends with ..pubs..rides..and there are restaurants around the lake..awesome place

Well although I am a vegetarian had friends with us who were sea food lovers. So had been to-Jumbo Sea food which is a famous restaurant here..

They all hogged on chilli crab which is the specialty of that place..

A very different experience at Marche. The theme out here is Market Place as it looks like a market. You need to go to individual counters, pick your stuff and pay.

Swiss Rosti is very famous here. It’s a potato item.

Beautiful Sushi.....
